Corrosion prevention in urea plants by adding a relatively small amount of a substance which gives when dissolved negatively charged colloidal particles. These particles coagulate with the positively charged metal ions which form as a result of the corrosion. The an impervious coating on the metal surface is formed preventing further corrosion attack. Proteins such as gelatin, casein, blood albumin,  agar-agar and glue and metallic hydroxides as for example sodium ferrocyanide, potassium ferricyanide, sodium silicate, sodium chromate, cobaltous hydroxide, nickel cyanide and potassium permanganate. Its is claimed that ferrous materials can be used as material of construction is these cases.
